Edward Snowden Claims More Damaging NSA Secrets
Has Edward Snowden told the public the truth or nothing but lies, is the question for big debate. If all lies, why is NSA man-hunting him down? What is NSA really hiding from American citizens?What happened to Free Press?
According to democracynow, Snowdens' actions are seen as both heroic and criminal over a debate with journalist Chris Hedges and Geoffrey Stone, professor at the University of Chicago Law School.
In 1992, professor Stone hired Obama to teach Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago.
Years later, in 2020, Stone served as an Informal Adviser to President Obama.
Geoffrey Stones' argument from a legal stand point is that public employees who have been granted access to classified information by the USA government (as Edward Snowden was) should not reveal such information to unauthorized personnel under federal statue. Hence, under such circumstances, what Stone did was unlawful. And, in such cases, he needs to be tried in a court of law. And if Snowden is convicted, he stands to be a criminal.
Chris Hedges, on the other hand, brings up the argument that if there were no Snowdens (among other whistle blowers of the past), there would be no free press.
Unlike what many Americans are made to believe, that Snowden just went on the internet and exposed the secret workings of their government, Hedges confirms that Snowden gave this information to the Guardian. It was filtered through the press in a classic way that whistle blowers provide public information about criminal activity by their government to the public.
Snowden insists he knows how NSA works. He admits to having the ''blue prints'' on the documents that explain how NSA collects against all our foreign adversaries whether they are terrorists or not.
At the same time, Snowden wants to impart this knowledge on how the blue prints operate to all Americans and how they can evade NSA surveillance.
While Snowden does worry about his safety, he does have in tact a ''dead man's pact." This pact consists of a series of encrypted data drops that he has left with trusted associates along the way.This form of security on his part secures his NSA secrets, should anything happen to him. His associates have the keys to open the encrypted data for public viewing.
The question still remains:
