Movie Review of "The Conjuring"
The based on a true story account of the original ghost hunters.
For those of you considering ghost hunting as a profession, I would suggest that you view The Conjuring first ─ you may just have a dramatic inclination to pursue something else.
Director James Wan (Insidious, Saw, and Dead Silence) has finally come up with a real winner. The Conjuring is not a stupid blood and guts horror film (i.e. Saw), but rather, a creepy based-on-a-true story scarefest. Based in Rhode Island during the 1960's, Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) are the preeminent paranormal investigators in America. When they are called upon by the Perron family to investigate an alleged haunting in their 18th century farmhouse, they just can't say no. After setting up shop with their basic ghost hunting gear in the Perron house, they soon find out that they are not dealing with your average run-of-the mill ghost: This is a friggin' demon. Enough said.
The movie starts out slowly setting up the ghastly showdown, but when things get rocking, they really rock. As most of us know, the based-on-a-true story movies usually have a kernel of truth; but this kernel is enough to give you nightmares. I have looked into the Perron case on the Internet and there is plenty of documentation, so if you're not into creepy demon stuff, don't see this; but if you are into a good scare this is serious medicine. See it, and make sure you stay for the trailers.
Reviewers Notes: The Warrens were the same investigators that gained fame in the Amityville Horror case. Lorraine Warren is still alive at the age of 86.
Why wasn't this movie released on Halloween?
If you seen this kind of stuff going on in your house, wouldn't you get your children (five girls) out of there fast? Duh.
