Five Reasons Job-Hunting Odds Are Worse Than Entrepreneurship

Think job hunting is getting any better? I reveal five reasons why job hunting and job odds are worse than being an entrepreneur.

In this article, I have to get these notions of limiting beliefs out in the open so that people will realize that being an entrepreneur may be the most "rational" field out there in the world of work today.

Let me explain my reasons for this.

It has widely been said by most people that having one stream of income per household isn't enough. For the average job seeker, this would mean working two or more jobs just to make the minimum bills every month. What people fail to realize is that there are so many ways that people can make money with the advent of the internet today, that you can make a passive second income while still having a job with less stress. If you want to know how to do this, I recommend reading the book "The Second Six Figure Income."

This book teaches you how to start and navigate your own side business while having a job. It also debunks the many continuous excuses people make about not being able to start a business. Anyone could start it at almost any stage.

There is also the idea that having more than one stream of income will save you, should (heaven forbid) you lose that job that you have because the company is going belly up.

Reason Two: Getting a Job Is Almost Harder Than Entrepreneurship

With the downward turn in the recession slowing everyone down, many people are turning to home-based businesses after being out of work for six months or more. According to Salary.com, being out of a job for six months or more makes it all the more difficult to find a job in the long run. With over 108 million people now on welfare in this country, we are at an all-time low. So many companies have turned away employees that people are now turning to welfare rather than entrepreneurship, basically because they didn't adopt a savings policy for when times are rough. Today, you have about as much chance of getting a job in certain markets or states as you would to become an entertainer. However, many of the millions of people who don't choose to play the waiting game with the welfare system have turned to home-based businesses and businesses that they can run using their God-given talents, skills, and abilities. A good portion of these people are now making more money at their crafts than they were at their jobs.

Reason Three: You Can Somewhat Control How Much Money You Make

Many people have been able to do a lot with self-publishing music and books with programs like Kindle Direct Publishing to CDbaby and Tunecore. Amanda Hocking is one of those people who was able to turn her gift of storytelling into a money-making machine thanks to Kindle and entertaining millions of fans with her young adult paranormal books. She was able to beat the rat race and totally change her financial outlook. If she sells each of her books at $0.99 each and she's got 7 books and 7 million people buy all seven books that come out to a magnificent profit of $48, 510,000. You can't argue with those figures.

There are also many sites like Cashcrate.com where you can set the cutoff for each check to any amount of money at or above $20. This means you are in charge of the money you make. You are in charge of setting your financial goals with this income stream--not someone else.

Reason Four: You Can Put Your Unique Skills to Use Where There May Be None In A Job

Many people apply for jobs to the disappointing news that they don't have all the recommended experience that is needed for the job. It is this thing of experience that keeps repeating in a vicious circle where you are asked to have experience on the spot. Nobody will train you for the job. This could partially be because of the companies spending unheard of amounts of money on unnecessary expenses when they could be using this money to train employees, but alas.

Does one have to prove to a business owner that they have the skills for the job? Yes. But what about using those unique skills you have to form your own business to create a side income while applying for jobs? You can keep some of your creativity, allowing for the outlets of it to take away the stress that we all go through during the job search.

People have started hot dog carts, ice cream trucks, and many other smaller businesses that have grown to astounding record profits. Often, these small businesses beat out similar bigger businesses to become the best on the market. Using your talents will yield money, if you are consistent enough at your craft. Some articles like the one here say that entrepreneurial pay isn't consistent. Well, if you're not consistently doing what you choose to do in business to make the money, well no. It isn't consistent. It may not be consistent in the very beginning, but as you build up your business systems, you can accumulate a consistent pay. It takes time and a lot of hard work. It is worth it!

Reason Five: Jobs and Job Searches Can Kill You Faster

Two main factors could indicate why this is the case. One, when working for a company, they typically do not pay you well enough or give you enough benefits to take care of yourself. Two, the stress of not having jobs after extensive job hunting can lead to health problems and depression down the road. There have been many people who have given up hope and ended their lives because they thought that not getting job meant they weren't able to do anything. This whole psychology of Just Over Broke is dangerous and sickening.

Those who stay in a job are not likely to keep up with rising inflation and so, if something happens to them where they cannot work a job, they will be buried in poverty, unless they do something to make and save money on the side. This money can then be used to help fight health problems and other ailments that could be life threatening.

We were all put on this earth for a reason. Many of us have yet to find what we were really called to do. Once we find our calling and monetize it, then the stress levels would go down and the doomsday mentality would fade.
