Good Ideas when Sighting in Your Bow
Many people have different theories when sighting in their bow for hunting here is what I do every time I need to sight in my bow.
1. Practice from Where You Hunt
By this I mean that if you hunt out of a tree stand than you will want to sight your bow in from an elevated position. Many people do not take the angle of the shot into consideration and will just sight their bow in standing the their yard. This can be a big mistake.
2. Practice Seated and Standing
If you feel like you may have to take a shot sitting down make sure that you practice that. Sometimes things can happen so fast that you do not even have time to stand up. Make sure that you are ready for this by taking time to practice from every position.
3. Leave Your Quiver On
If you have a quiver on your bow while you hunt make sure that you leave it on while you are practicing shooting. The weight difference will cause the shot to feel different if you shoot without the quiver on the bow.
4. Start Close
This will make sure that you do not lose an arrow if you are not sure how the sights are lined up. If you start around 12-15 yards you should be able to see where the arrow goes even if you miss the target the first time.
5. Shoot a Few Time with the Hunting Tips
Most bowhunters will have both broadheads and practice tips. Make sure that after you sight your bow in with the blunt practice tips that you then put your broadheads on and shoot again. This will insure that your arrow flight stays the same with both tips. This is something that you do not want to learn when you are already in the field.
