The rules and regulations that govern dove hunting in Arizona come from the Code of Federal Regulations and the Arizona Game and Fish Department. These agencies are responsible for setting seasons, areas, bag limits and possession limits. They are also responsible for other programs that hunters must be aware of such as HIP, harvest information program, hunter education programs and licensing programs. Dove hunters in Arizona are required to have a proper hunting license, to take part in the HIP program, to complete a hunter education program if they between 10 and 14 years old and to have an Arizona Migratory Bird Stamp.
According to the Arizona Game and Fish Department hunting rules and regulations, dove hunters can have a bag limit of 10 Mourning Doves and Native White-wing Doves, with no more than 6 Native White-wing doves. The possession limit for dove hunters in Arizona is 20 doves, with no more than 12 Native White-wing doves. There is no bag limit or possession limit on Eurasian Collard Doves. A bag limit is the maximum number of doves that a hunter can legally take per day and a possession limit is the maximum number of doves that a hunter can legally have at any one time. The Arizona Game and Fish Department also states that doves in Arizona can be legally hunted one-half hour before sunrise and must end at sunset. All doves taken in Arizona must have at least one feathered wing attached to them until they have been taken to the final destination where they will either be stored or prepared as a meal.
Dove hunting season in Arizona is broken down into two definite regions, the North and the South Regions, each with broken down into smaller regions. But, both of these two definite regions are open for Mourning Dove and Native White-wing Dove hunting from September 1, 2020 to September 15, 2020.
