House Hunting Takes It's Toll!

We are losing our house due to loss of wages. I have not much time left to find the perfect house. This is the hardest thing I have had to do in a long time.

Dad's days ran out on July 3, 2020, at 6:30 A.M.

While we were grieving, I conceived our son who was born March 25, 2020. After losing Dad less than a year before, we were blessed with our son. It helped push the grief to the back of our minds. How could one be sad when a beautiful baby son was bringing us so much happiness?

That was the first of the long struggle we endured until now January 1, 2020.

Last August we had to quit paying our mortgage as after a long hard struggle trying to keep our bills paid. We had built a new house in 2005, at the time we knew we had to refinance within two years as we had an adjustable interest loan. When we refinanced we got money back to make some improvements to our house. That made our monthly payments go up some but not much. We were both working and doing well and we never dreamed what lay ahead.

With cuts in wages and a new baby to support life became very hard, not to mention the mortgage at a higher monthly payment.

Last month we received our letter of notice from the mortgage lender, our day in court for foreclosure is in a few days. I had hoped to get through the school year before we had to move from our home. So when we received our notice, I began my research for a rental to live in. Not really knowing how long we would have, I knew I didn't want to put my head in the so called sand and hope for the best. I have two young children and can't even think about them sleeping in a strange place.

I have been on vacation for two weeks enjoying the holidays and seeking a rental house was not in my plan for the time I had off. Yesterday, it finally hit, what will we do, where will we go if I can't find a new home for us in the next week or so. I panicked and started making calls. I had my Mom check out the rentals on-line in our area. Today, armed with a list of several homes to see, we loaded up the kids and we were off checking them over. It was sad to see we had our work cut out for us. Each one had something we found wrong, it reminded me of when I bought my last used car.

We picked each house apart, there wasn't enough bedrooms or they weren't big enough. The faults were many and at last in desperation I looked in the little paper I had and found a house on five ares of land, the house had three bedrooms and two baths. It didn't say anything about a garage, but it did have two storage sheds and a horse barn. Wow !!

We said, what have we got to lose and away we went and wouldn't you know it had the biggest bedrooms I have ever saw in a house. We decided it had enough of what we needed, the two kids could share a bedroom together as they are small yet. What the heck, I jumped on it like I had found a winning ticket to the mega bucks lottery.

I, now have to go through our stuff and decide what to keep and what goes in the sale pile. Mom will be moving in with us so she has her work cut out for her as well. We have struggled so long we are finally seeing the end of this road we have been traveling for over four years.

I understand life deals you a bad hand sometimes but for the present, it feels like I finally have a winning hand and we will be in a safe harbor for a little while. You know life is not always a smooth road, it has many deep holes to trip us, but if we keep the faith the safe harbor will arrive and we can rest.

We are all excited and can't wait to get this next part of our adventure started. I guess this is what life is all about, just one adventure after the other.
