A few good books on hunting ghosts
The Complete Idiots Guide to Ghosts and Hauntings by Tom Ogden - This may not be the most popular book on ghost hunting out there but it has some good info in it. Though it never goes into great detail on how to hunt ghosts, it does touch on some of the basics. You are then taken to the ghosts stories, of which there are a ton. The book discusses mediums, magic, celebrity haunts, schools, urban legends and alot more. There is a section in the back with info on groups, haunted places, books, along with internet addresses for those that have a website. All in all a good read and good for the novice.
The Everything Ghost Book by Jason Rich - This one doesn't have alot of details on hunting either, but it's still a pretty good read. It goes over famous paranormal investigators and mediums as well as plenty of ghost stories. There are sections on past life regression, near death experiences and Ouija and automatic writing. It has a glossary, list of haunted places and websites also. Good book for the info about the investigators as it gives an idea of how they do investigations.
Ghost Hunting/How to Investigate the Paranormal by Loyd Auerbach - Mr. Auerbach has written several books on the paranormal. This one deals with just ghost hunting. He covers everything in this one. Starting with the different kinds of ghosts, he goes into how to deal with clients through the equipment used in investigations. Some of the lingo may be a little much for the novice but it's worth going through.
How to Hunt Ghosts by Joshua P.Warren - One of the best books on ghost hunting out there. Warren covers the whole experience of ghost hunting. Details on types of ghosts, equipment and how to use it, and how to conduct an investigation. If you are just starting out you should have this book. I am not a fan of orbs, and he does cover these so you have to decide what you think on that subject.
The Field Guide to North American Hauntings by W. Haden Blackman - What can I say about this book except that you should have this. Even if there are no locations listed near you it's just a really interesting book. There is even a guide to tell you what your chances are to see a ghost in places listed. Lots of photos of haunted places and extra lists at the ends of chapters.
Haunted Places..The National Directory by Dennis William Hauck - Over 450 pages of haunted places, this is the mega list. Hundreds and hundreds of haunted locations listed by state and city with photos scattered throughout. So interesting to read..you'll be at it for days trying to get all this one in.
Remember.. as with any other location, the places listed in these books are usually private property. Please never enter any property without getting proper permission first. Also note some of the web addresses listed may no longer be valid or may have changed.
