Studio Update: Miracle Pictures Studio Gets Rights to Sports Legend, Donofrio Joins 'Witness Protection'

Amazon Studios and Warner Brothers have teamed up to provide Justin Time and Witness Protection a development platform that you can use.

First, after 7 years of trying to navigate the now-retired office of Beverlee Dean, former manager of Jim Caviezel among others, Mel Gibson was finally reached by way of email. He's aware of Justin Time and the offer to play Apostle Paul in the time travel Biblical epic, but, contrary to the tabloids, his plate is full.

Considering we really don't have the money to produce it yet, we'll come back to him later. He could still say no, but I get the sense that his family is a priority right now.

Retired men's college basketball coach Lute Olson gave his consent to me to develop The Faithful as a novel which will include his life story as chronicled in his autobiography Lute! The Seasons of My Life. The story will be combined with the life story of my father, Joseph Parella, a Wyatt-Earp-Frank-Serpico-like cop whom the city of Tucson named a street after in 1998. One cannot tell the story of Joe without mentioning Lute's mutual impact on the city, ushering it into the 21st century. The story is told from the perspective of the Throne of Christ, and the fans, citing Elton Johns Candle In The Wind, "from the kid in the 22nd row." At press time, the founding director of the El Tour De Tucson is trying to work out a deal with the casino owned by the South Tucson-based Pascua-Yaqui Indians, possibly resulting in enough funding to finish the novel and secure film funding. Joe's role with the tribe mirrored the fictionalizations of The Untouchables and Dances With Wolves.

Is Kevin Costner reading this? (wink, wink)

Further, actor Joe Donofrio, enjoying rave reviews from his guest starring roles in the TBS sitcom Are We There Yet?, joined the cast of Witness Protection, a project loaded onto the development blog of the Amazon Studios website. Donofrio's character is Mickey Bravo, the anti-hero who runs an adult nightclub before acknowledging God's offer of a new life. The legal drama vehicle is expected to take the former child star of Goodfellas and A Bronx Tale to a level of Golden Globe caliber. His role on the Ice Cube comedy Are We There Yet? should get insiders buzzing about a possible spin off, ala Frasier.

Meanwhile Justin Time's Kindle downloads have surpassed 10,000 copies. The film version is being shopped for a title character, while the audiobook version of Episode I has been released in English and Spanish, now available on Audible.com.

Barnes amp; Noble accepted the Miracle Media Publishing titles into their special order catalog, making Jedi To Jesus: The Making of a Christian Filmmaker, Justin Time, Witness Protection, and the upcoming The Faithful available at all retail stores that subscribe to the Ingram's wholesale catalog including WalMart, K Mart, and Target.

Miracle Media is also publishing new authors including former Arizona Wildcat, NBA player and Christian radio show host Eddie Smith, whose personal memoirs on Christian married life is expected to be on Kindle for the holidays. A noir novella by C.M. Johnston titled Vampire Sunset is also in the works slated for a Kindle release in early 2020.

The Faithful is now getting the full treatment as a historical fiction novel. But when it is done, it might not be distributed by the usual channels. Carrie Cecil, acclaimed children's book author and blogger, and wife of college and NFL great Chuck Cecil, has agreed to pass it along to editors at Simon and Schuster for consideration.

A lot of irons in the fire. We'll learn more over the holidays if anything catches aflame.

Cory Parella is the CEO of Miracle Pictures Studios in Colorado.
