Ex-Chief John Polio Changes Stance on Shooting Death of Amy Bishop's Brother in 1986
Ex-police Chief John Polio has changed his stance on the 1986 shooting death of Seth Bishop, brother of Amy Bishop who is suspected of killing three people and wounding three others at the University of Alabama.
Bob Johnson, Mark Pratt and Stephen Singer, Associated Press writers, have posted an article titled, "Ex-chief now questions '86 Bishop shooting probe."
What are John Polio's questions?
The 87-year-old Polio indicated that there were no ballistics tests done. Also there was an 11-day period before family members were interviewed.
Apparently Bishop waved a gun at an auto mechanic in 1986 after shooting her brother and said she needed a car to flee from her husband who was after her.
Amy Bishop, according to her husband, had been practicing at a shooting range. He didn't ask anything about the gun. That is a surprise since he was aware of her shooting of her brother.
Another incident that has come up is that Amy Bishop and her husband were questioned about a pipe bomb that didn't go off and had been sent to another professor.
More information has come out about the University of Alabama shooting.
Apparently, according to a survivor, there was a meeting of a dozen people. After about an hour Bishop stood up and started shooting people in the head. She started with those closest to her. The table was oval so one side was victimized. Then the gun supposedly jammed and Bishop was rushed and pushed out the door.
As of this moment she has been charged with one count of capital murder and three counts of attempted murder. Of the three people injured, one was released; one is in serious condition and one remains in critical condition.
This is an unusual shooting because it was done by a woman.
You never know when someone is going to snap, although it sounds as though this may have been pre-meditated considering the shooting range.
In Vietnam I was involved in a poker game. One fellow had been losing all evening and abruptly left. He came back with his rifle and "stole" the money on the table (We would have given it to him).
It turned out it was his money for his wife and son he was losing. He ended up going to treatment for a mental breakdown.
More and more questionable information about Amy Bishop has come out. I feel much like some of the victims' relatives feel. What happened to the pre-hiring investigation by the University of Alabama?
