12 Great Hunting Blogs
Hunting blogs are a great source of information for deer hunters.
Simply Outdoors. This blog is based out of Michigan, and is written primarily by a man named Arthur. This blog provides some excellent information, especially for those who are hunting in the far north, and upper Midwestern region of the United States. Simply Outdoors is always good for a smile, as there are often first hand accounts of various hunts for deer, as well as other outdoor related stories.
Hunt Smart, Think Safety. This blog is written by Kristine, and is related to an outdoor product, the GunTriever. The focus of this blog is safety in hunting, but Kristine does a good job of addressing many different issues related to hunting. One prominent feature of this blog is Kristine's "Community Wednesday" posts. Here, Kristine highlights some posts from similar outdoor related blogs, making it an excellent place to find links to many hunting, fishing and outdoor blogs.
Lowcountry Hunting. Lowcountry Hunting is written by Jeff, who works in the hunting industry in South Carolina. I enjoy this blog because it covers a different area of the country, and addresses the means and methods of hunting in that region. Jeff also writes quite a bit about hunting with his young sons. It is great to see young people getting started in hunting, and parents working hard to instill the outdoor lifestyle in their children. Jeff also writes a blog for the Cyprus Creek Hunting Lodge in South Carolina.
Bright Idea Outdoors. This blog is written by Matt, and is always full of good hunting information. Matt addresses many of the issues that are so important to hunters around the country. He also writes a lot of personal posts about his own hunting experiences. One subject that Matt has written a lot about is hunting with kids. He has written several articles that address hunting with kids, and how to ensure that they will enjoy the experience.
Outdoors with Othmar Vohringer. This blog is written by a true outdoorsman, and hunting professional. Othmar is from Canada, and writes about hunting in the far north. You can also visit his new website, which contains a lot more information about his work, and the services that he offers. Othmar covers many different topics. He has something worth reading every single day. He doesn't hesitate to expose the unfair way that hunting is portrayed in the mainstream media, and he does it clearly and professionally.
The Black Bear Blog. This blog is written by Tom Remington, and is a widely read and very informative blog. Tom spends much time covering topics that are of interest to hunters nation wide. He too will cover subjects that are unpopular when it comes to the mainstream media. He also deals with political issues that affect us as outdoorsmen. One subject that Tom writes quite a bit about is the wolf, and reintroduction of wolves into various parts of the United States. That is a controversial subject, even among outdoorsmen. This subject has drawn a lot of attention on Tom's blog, and he has done a great job of handling the controversy, and even answering those who have disagreed with him.
Penn's Outdoors. Penn's Outdoors is a blog that is from the region of the country that I hunt, and so it is of interest to me. This blog is a good source of information for hunting, fishing and camping in the state of Pennsylvania. I enjoy reading the blog, as it keeps me informed about the different law changes in the state of Pennsylvania, as well as many of the controversial issues that arise in the state.
Deer Hunting Big Bucks. This blog is a great place to go to read good hunting stories. This blog is based out of Georgia, and is often filled with not only stories of big bucks, but also great pictures. Just by reading the stories of successful hunts, you can find tips that will help you be more successful. Find out what works for others, and put it into practice! Adam (the author of this blog), also just announced a new blog. Be sure to check Foggy Bottom Outdoors. It looks like it will be a good site too!
Base Camp Legends. This blog is a place that you can go to read the stories of successful hunts across the country. Tom, the author of this blog, writes about not only his own hunts, and the hunts of those in his family, but also about hunts of friends and fellow hunters across the United States. He covers everything from deer to elk, as well as smaller quarry. It is always fun to click on his link, and see what trophy has been bagged! Tom also has a forum set up, which is a great source of hunting information.
The Hunter's Wife Blog. This blog is not written by a hunter, but the wife of a hunter (as is clear from the title). This blog, written by Jody, is full of humor, and well worth reading. This blog would be particularly entertaining for wives of hunters. Jody has a great sense of humor about the challenges that come with living with a hunter. She certainly has great perspective, and relates that perspective in a fun way. This is an everyday read!
The Hog Blog. I like this blog because of how different the subject matter is. This blog, based in California, is focused on hunting wild hogs. Surprisingly, hogs are available for hunting in many different places across the United States. Phillip writes about issues that have to do with hog hunting primarily, but he also addresses issues that affect Californian hunters (and which will affect hunters in the rest of the country soon). One issue that he has written quite a bit about is the Californian Lead Ban. If you want more information, visit The Hog Blog.
Jake's Outdoors. This is my own personal blog, which is focused on hunting, fishing, and camping. I write a lot about my own personal experiences in the outdoors, but I also write about current events that are related to hunting, fishing and other outdoor pursuits.
I hope that you enjoy reading these blogs. They are very informative, and will provide you with hours of enjoyable reading. Be sure to check them often!
